Hey there, sim-followers!
Disclaimer: the following post is for the sims3 PC, but you’ll probably find very similar codes for the other versions across a variety of platforms 🙂
There are an infinite amount of cheat codes out there (or so it seems to me) for the Sims 3 PC, and they’re pretty damn great. Whether you need a $50 000 grant, a lame joke or some boosted happiness, the existing cheat codes are there to support you. There’s a lot out there, but here’s my personal top 5 go-to codes for assured sim success!
The first thing you need to do is hold down the keys ‘ctrl+shift+c’. This will open up a text bar at the top of the screen which you can type in. Simply press ‘escape’, or type ‘exit’ to remove it.
You have to have heard of this one – type it in and $50 000 simoleons will be added to your household fund! It’s perfect for that renovation, that new car or swimming pool – you could even pull your Sims out of work and invest their time in family or fulfilling their lifetime wishes (something I’ve never been able to do with a fulltime career). If there’s one critique of this code, it’s that you have to be in play mode to use it. This means that when you’re at the stage of just having made a family and you’re choosing them a house to move into, you can’t add the money on at that point in time to help you purchase a better house. You can always move into a shitty one, type ‘motherlode’ and then move back to the neighbourhood and into a new house, but that whole process is WAY more complicated than it needs to be.
I’ll be honest, I am unaware of why this code even exists – but it’s great. Type it in and the oh-so-witty text bar will spit you out a corny joke. It doesn’t really have an impact on your game, but it’s a cool hack and a source of entertainment, so why not?
This is a really sweet hack – type it in and it will give you a list of all the available cheat codes. It won’t go into much detail of what they do (so good luck!) but it’s a good source all the same. However it is limited to the codes which are built into the console.
As the name suggests, typing this code in (in neighbourhood mode) will ignore the cost of properties – enjoy mansion life!
5. “testingCheatsenabled (true)”
This turns on the ability of the console to recognise the infinite sources of cheats out there. Use the internet (try this source) to find all sorts of weird and wacky cheat codes to enhance your game! The possibilities are truly endless. Examples include being able to add any Sim you see to your current family and the ability to make anyone age, or even play video files from your computer on your Sim’s television!
So they’re my five go-to codes for cheating success! However, once you’ve gotten tired of all the hacks and tricks in the system, it’s always a good idea to go back to basics and rear a family with no cheat codes – it definitely isn’t easy!
